This person called an elderly friend on Saturday. Just as the caller above said, he said he was Eversource Electric. He told her said could save up to 50% on electricity by switching to a new plan and coaxed into giving him her social security number.
She called 508-322-4882 back and there was no dial tone or anything other indication a call was going through. She called Eversource on Monday, and they told her, he was mostly likely calling from a competing company. The Eversource rep was not too concerned that a scammer was using it to defraud the elderly and told her to call the police. She called the local police who told her to cancel all credit cards, which is ludicrous - they did provide her any other assistance. I called the credit bureaus and placed a credit alert. I also had a security freeze set up with TransUnion. I finally signed her up with Life Lock. The moral of the story - this person calling from 508-322-4882 is a terrorist, an enemy of the elderly and vulnerable - May God curse him ...
DO NOT ANSWER a CALL FROM 508-322-4882.
