I just got a call from this number. They asked for me - the guy had a heavy Indian accent. They said they detected a problem with my computer. I said not interested and hung up. He called back saying we got disconnected. I said this is a scam and he said no angrily saying he was from windows tech support and if I could turn on my computer so he could help me fix it. I hung up!!

Yes it is a scam...and good thing you hung up...they tried doing the same thing to me...and when I told them I will contact Microsoft directly he got angry and said "NO it will crash my computer instantly"....PLEASEEEeeeeee! Nice try, but not falling for it. Glad you didnt either!

trying to get financial info and personal info .they say I have been approved for a auto loan
They called and my wife picked it up. She knew it was a scam, but pretended like she was actually going onto our comnputer to do what they wanted. She is an actress and plays the perfect dumb blonde routine. So, she was jerkng him around, and the guy was getting terribly frustrated, and says, "You really need to figure out how we can get on your computer"...So she was like ok, then she hung up.
We looked up the number and saw it was coming from Fremont California. And at that moment they called back. Asked for my wife, and I said, "Well, you're talking to an RCMP officer, who is now monitoring your number, with the Fremont police." Feel free to call them the next time these guys call.

same as above- computer software technician from "microsoft", wanted me to turn on my computer to show me the "malware" that was about to take over my system. I told them I was just stepping out and did not have time. He commented: "you dont have time for your computer?" I said no and he hung up.
