Have been called from 514-322-6605 twice in two days; the first day was a missed call with no message left (my voicemail indicates that they have reached a business); the following day, I answered the call and there was no response on the other end of the line.
Comments on 800 notes point to ARO Debt Collections and Bell Canada as possible sources, but considering the below, I'd say it's more likely that this is someone MISREPRESENTING THEMSELVES as a representative of ARO and/or Bell Canada.
Have never held an account with Bell myself and our business does not utilize their services; also our business is the province's 4th largest employer, so the notion that they'd let a single phone bill go to collections on a business scale such as this is just a tad preposterous.
Today I called Bell Canada's Genera line at 1-866 301-1942. The representative was completely clueless/useless, insisted on taking my name and phone number "for their records" even though I don't have an account with Bell and even though I had identified that I was calling about a potential fraud concern, put me on an extended hold to speak with "her superior", then came back and told me that I could not speak to their fraud center unless I have an account with them. I emphasized that I was trying to do the right thing by informing them of a potential security threat, and her response consisted of repeating the fact that I cannot speak to anyone about potentially fraudulent behavior that misrepresents their company unless I have an account.
Tomorrow, I will call ARO and see if they are more concerned or helpful. If not, I will report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, and I would encourage other posters here to do the same - look it up.
he refused to say why he is calling, asked to "confirm" 4 questions. Once he saw that he wasn't getting information he said that someone will call back to confirm before any information is given. I blocked the number, they can no longer contact me
