Caller ( adult male voice) greeted me "Hi Grandma!" I asked who this was and he said, cheerfully, "Your Grandson!" I knew it wasn't, immediately, ( my oldest is 8 yrs) but I asked 'Oh, which one?" "Your oldest, he said. "What's you name?" I asked, and he hung up.

January 13, 2012, around 11am. I went to a site providing reverse phone number look-ups (my phone had captured the number) and was sent to Snopes, and this site.

Received phone call on Sept. 20, 2011, at 11:38 a.m. "Hi, Grandma," he said, "What are you doing?" I have one grandson and this wasn't him. The voice told me he was with two friends are were taking a short vacation trip to Canada. I said I had been there, and he was very excited and happy to share this info. They were in Montreal, Quebec (spelled it for me), Canada, because another friend, a photographer, invited them on a photo shoot. He described several places they'd been and said, "But I have a problem. I had a car accident..." "Oh, no! Are you alright?" I played along because I knew this was a scam. Yes, he was alright, but he needed money (and he would pay me back!) to fix the car and get his belongings back that had been confiscated. I asked how much and he replied, "$500.00, and there will also be a fee of about $50 when you go to a Western Union office. And take cash. Cash only." I assured him I would tend to it immediately and asked if he was sure of the amount. He said maybe $650.00 would be better, and he would pay me back.I reminded him that he always had, but I needed to know where to send it. "Well, since they have my ID, you'll have to send it in my friend's name. It is JAMES DAVID. Make sure you get a control
number, and I'll call you back in about two hours for it." Conversation ended. I called local police who said this scam was the jurisdiction of the FBI. Just waiting.

I received the call and the person knew my first name. The call was really creepy, something about bail money.
