Just called me at 6am. Actually left a message saying they were the IRS giving me my last chance to settle up my taxes/crime. Said an arrest warrant had been issued for me. Yeah, right. I called them right back and they answered "IRS investigations," said something garbled, then hung up.
Received a call and voicemail from 515-446-2383. HERE IS THE TRANSCRIPT: "ignoring this will be an additional 2nd attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or the grand jury for a federal criminal defense (the word should have been "offense") failure to return the call will result in law-enforcement action against you as there is a legal petition notice filed under your name by the IRS for tax division and tax fraud so before this matter gets executed to the courthouse and before you get arrested if you need any information or if you have any questions kindly call the United States department of the Treasury back at the apartment number." I called back today... their answer was "This is not the IRS" and put me on a hold with music - I just hung up after 30 seconds. PEOPLE PLEASE TELL EVERYONE (especially the less educated and elderly) that the IRS does NOT CALL PEOPLE!! They only communicate via mail and certified mail. All these organizations need to be fined and shut down! Call originated in Des Moines, Iowa and I live in Connecticut. I've received at least 10 calls in the past 2-3 years. I will keep posting until they stop!
