received a text saying "call me one of your family members has been in a car accident". When my daughter called he asked for her fathers name and then said he had the wrong number and hung up.
They text my mom saying her son was in an accident and that they wanted her to take care of it out of court. She said she was calling the police, and pretended to have a conversation with a police officer. The guy flipped out and said he was going to beat her son then hung up. The next day, he text me saying the exact same thing.
This douchebag claims he is with your family member who was just in an accident and demands that you "call him now." This is a scam! Be smart, everyone. He may mention the city he thinks you live in to make his rous more believable, but a simple area code search would give him that info.
They called me and said my mother had done a hit and run and that they were drug dealers and they had her and were going to kill her if I didn't pay for their little kids medical bills. And would kill her if I tried texting anyone or calling cops. He knew street names in my mother's city. He knew MY name. I tried calling my mother while he was on the phone, he heard me dialing and hung up. I couldn't reach my mother, I was frantic, called 911, found out it was a scam going around.
Guy called saying that my brother was in an accident and him and his friend had to pull him out the car... but my brother doesn't drive. After he realized it wasn't going to work, he gave up.
