They called -- again -- yesterday, using that same "pickle jar" line. Since my landline does not provide free caller ID (as is a standard included feature for cell phone service), I can't say whether this was an exact match on the culprit. What I can say for sure is that there are a number of distinct, repetitive BS / Scam callers -- over the years now -- who keep OBVIOUSLY re-using the same opening line, or are otherwise clearly working off of their well-worn script. I immediately cut them short, before quickly hanging up on them -- loudly. "Dude, that is so tired by now. You really need to work up some fresh script." What I'd REALLY like to say is "Get the **F** off my line, and never call here again !" Some reliable, free auto-detect & block mechanism (that works on land lines !) would be even better, but then they could probably just spoof some other supposed calling-from #.
Children's cancer in Albany called me & asked for $15.00 donation. They told me I was harder to reach then the last pickle in the pickle jar. I hung up!
They called 3 or 4 times a day in one week, sometimes early morn. Is there a way to shut them down?
I actually work at the Children's Cancer Center at Albany, and we got a call asking us if this is a legit fundraising effort -- IT IS A COMPLETE SCAM, DO NOT GIVE ANY CC INFO AND REPORT TO NYS AG AND/OR FCC
