It was a Microsoft scam. The individual had an Indian accent. He insisted he wanted to help me. He wanted me to type in www.helpme.net. He claimed he was in New Jersey. I had the guy on the phone for 20 minutes. I repeatedly asked him how did I know I could trust him. I asked him to verify he work for Microsoft and he refused. I said point me to a Microsoft page that will confirm your existence. He kept insisting he want to help me fix my computer from malicious software. He actually had my name in my address. This was very creepy. My recommendation is to keep them on the phone as long as possible so that they can not harass other people.
