Now claiming to be John Clinton. Craigslist email lists as Larry James. Wanted to buy piano, sight unseen, for $100. Asked for address (which I gave him), phone number (I told him to email me his), said he'd send a check and have movers pick it up. Luckily I wised up before I cashed the check for $1120. Sent from Oklahoma, check from Wisconsin, claims to live in Rhode Island, area code Virginia.

He is now targeting Canadian craigslist ads. When they tell you they are interested in your item without identifying it, that's a tell tale sign.

1/30/16 Texted me today claiming to be Janet Lehman & wanted to send a Company Check (his punctuation) and have movers show up. Sounded phony, so sent a text saying CL's generally cash & carry; his M.O. sounded like a popular CL scam. He didn't text me back after this.Guess it's a slow day in Nigeria.

540-414-8446 responded to CL ad for chairs. Sent a check that he wanted us to take the money for the chairs out of and then get a Walmart MoneyGram for the rest and make it payable to the moving company. We waited to see if the check would clear, it didn't. I called the business that was printed on the check, and they had closed the account due to stolen checks.
