I received a call from an unlisted # and it was an Indian man named Kevin. He told me my computer had viruses and Windows Support had received a signal from my computer. He wanted me to press the Windows icon key and R at the same time. I told him I wasn't having any problems and he said I wouldn't see the problem unless I did as requested and pressed the 2 keys he had told me to previously. I asked him if there was a problem, how much was it going to cost to get it fixed...he said no more than $400. I played along and told him I would do as requested, but first wanted a phone number to call him back in case we got disconnected. After getting it, I Googled the # and found various complaints. When I told him this, he wanted to know what site I found the complaints on. I told -him I knew this was a scam and he said no, I must have looked up the wrong #. I read the phone # back to him and he then said it was 567-252-5355. I told him again I knew it was a scam and not to call me again. He then hung up.

SCAMMER ALERT!!! I am a computer tech and my clients informed me that they received a call from them claiming to be a "Microsoft tech". Microsoft will not call you. These people claim that your computer is "infected" by having you view the computer "event viewer" and these are just internal programming messages of the computer. They scared the customer and requested that the customer give them remote control access to the computer. The customer followed their instructions and installed "LogMeIn". They then installed their own virus that recovers your personal information, such as, usernames, passwords, etc. ADVICE: If you get a call like this, out of area, and/or unknown caller asking you if you have a computer? Tell them you don't have a computer and hang up. But, if you follow through with their instructions. Shut it down or Power shutdown by "Holding down the power button" till it shuts down and call a local computer tech to get the virus removed.

Got the same call today. Claimed to be Windows Service Center tech support, internal service blocked, they are seeing multiple warning messages. Only problem is that we use tablets that don't have Windows operating systems. Jack Thompson from Ohio was the person who called.

This was a total scam! They said they were calling from Windows Technology to tell me that thousands of viruses had been installed on my computer and wanted me to let them remote into my computer. They would identify the issues for me then tell me about products that they have that would "fix" my computer. I have updated virus software and regular scans, I know this was a complete scam. Don't give anyone who calls you any information or access to your computer!
