Just had a message from Alan Smith (with and accent) 703-828-0429, IRS badge #7997025 saying it's an urgent message for tax evasion and willful fraud. Caller ID shows Virginia.

You receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS but you suspect they are not an IRS employee ...
Record the employee's name, badge number, call back number and caller ID if available.
Call 1-800-366-4484 to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you.
If the person calling you is an IRS employee, call them back.
If not, report the incident to TIGTA and to us at phishing@irs.gov (Subject: 'IRS Phone Scam')

The number he's using today is 703-828-0429 - comes up as "VIRGINIA".

Same as above. He called and said we owed 4,900 dollars. His Name was Allan Smith saying he was from the IRS and that his badge number was 799-7025. A warrant for my arrest blah blah. he was pretty convincing.

Mr. Smith is now Jonathan Knight - or he "loaned" his number to Mr. Knight.
The IRS has conducted an audit of my returns. Apparently I am hiding assets from the Fed Gov and this must be rectified immediately.

Maybe I should call him back to have he tell me what those assets are and where I can pick them up! LOL
NO WAY WOULD I EVER RETURN THIS CALL!

Very gruff, scary voice - but heavy foreign accent. sigh. I can see where he would be able to scare some folks.

I just received a call from Allan Smith saying he was from the IRS and that his badge number was 799-7025. He said that I was being charged with willful fraud and tax evasion. It's a scam!!

Been recieving theses calls for a while.....I have never called back because of an article in my local newspaper stating that these calls were happening and they are targeting the elder people because they get so afraid that they are going to go to jail if they dont give them the information. THE IRS SENDS LETTERS THEY DON'T CALL PEOPLE.....Please if you can spread the word to the elders that you know to please dont give any personal information to ANYONE over the phone.

Claimed to be from IRS tax auditing department; that they had received a financial tax petition; that I needed to call right away or a warrant for my arrest would be issued; gave his name as Allen Smith, badge #7997025. Sounded a little as though he were reading from a script. Never mentioned my name, or any details about any tax fraud or tax owed.

I experienced the same thing, received a phone message in the middle of the day saying that I would be arrested if I didn't respond in 45 min. My name nor his were mentioned in the message. Said he was from the IRS and it was about tax fraud and tax evasion. I knew it had to be false as we are very good about taxes...and that's not how any of that would go down.

Caller left message stating he was from the IRS and I had 45 minutes to call back. If i didn't call back the was an arrest warrant to be issued. It's a scam. Don't call and don't give any information!

middle eastern accent .said his name was alan smith from the IRS gave a badge number. said there was a legal petition pertaining to tax fraud and I needed to call back before there was a warrant out for my arrest. he did not ask for me by name. Just shooting in the dark.

This person called and harassed me and threatened my family, posing as a guy from the IRS. I'm 21 with little experience on how these things work. He sounded entirely legit and well versed in his topic- a scary mix for a guy trying to rip off your money. Tell him to f*** off.

Got the same scam phone call. They said I would be arrested in one hour if I didn't call back.

This has no caller id and They are saying that we are going to be arrested in one hour and need to call them. I listened to msg and hung up. SCAM!!! probably to get money for bail or something.

I received the same call. It was a man with a foreign accent, stating he was from the IRS. Asked for name and number to call back. He hung up on me. I dialed the number he called from and he answered, stating he was with the IRS. Asked for another number to call to verify if the call was legit and he hung up on me again. SCAM for sure!!!!
