I received the exact same call with the exact same details all the other posts describe. I figured it had to be a scam, but boy it really scares you when you first hear it!

"Alan Smith" claimed to be with the IRS, even mentioning a lengthy "badge" number, warning that I'd better call right away about this "time sensitive issue," or risk being arrested. First of all, the IRS doesn't make calls or send emails: this government agency will send a registered letter. Secondly, this Mr. "Smith's" accent was so strong that he mispronounced several words that I couldn't identify/distinguish, even after replaying the message several times. Thirdly, he never used my name or phone number. This is a scam. Do not reply. Hopefully, a law enforcement agency can identify and go after him.

I also received the same call from the same man stating there was a legal petition pertaining to a tax fraud. Thank you for this number service-I won't bother to call the real IRS.

I got the same call from middle eastern accent man who said he was Alan Smith from the IRS gave a badge number. Said there was a legal petition pertaining to tax fraud and I needed to call back before there was a warrant out for my arrest. he did not ask for me by name. Same for me. Do not call them it is a scam.
