Just received an automated VM stating an urgent matter with the IRS. I googled the number since it wasn't an normal number you'd expect for the IRS. It returned this website.
I received a call from this strange number, and they left an automated message in my voicemail. I called them back and gave them my number for "verification" but I refused to give them my name. He told me he was calling from the IRS about an issue and to avoid further action. I adamantly refused to give him my name and he told me to "not call him again." OK Buddy LOL
Today was my first call from "Julie Smith" and I knew immediately this was a scam. I am contacting the FCC and FBI to report this incident. I will forward the link to this blog to increase the impact of my complaint.
this number has called me 5 times now and left messages on my voicemail stating that if i don't take care of this "urgent matter" that the us marshalls will be coming to arrest me. they demanded the money owed to the irs within an hour in cash. this is clearly a scam. i am in washington state.
I received a message from officer Julie smith, stating I needed to call immediately to avoid further action- computerized voice. I called back and spoke with "officer Gary Foster". He proceeded to tell me that I was under criminal investigation for tax fraud and that federal marshals would arrive within the hour to arrest me. He was clearly from India and not the irs as he claimed. He told me that I was going to be an example for all the cheaters and liars and wanted to know if I would like to resolve the matter. It really upsets me that there are probably vulnerable people that will fall for this scam.
