this person told me that my computer was generating "numerous errors " and had remotely "alerted " him of its poor state. He then asked me to go to a website to "see all the errors ". I'm an IT tech, and can assure you, my computer is running error free.
The caller was either Asian or Indian, very hard to understand, but they kept saying something about my computer. Told them nothing was wrong with my computer and please take me off there call list.
Have been getting the same call 1 to 2 times a day but with differ callers. The caller I.D. # is 600-233-1234.
I got the same call on July 4, 2012 that Beezes, got on July 3. I asked what country the woman was calling from, she said India. I then asked her to transfer this call to their location in the US, which I didn't expect that to happen or exist. She wanted me to get on my computer for something from Microsoft. I expected she may try downloading a virus and told her that I have an Apple computer, and Apple doesn't get virus invasions. I also told her my computer is double firewall protected, and she hung up. I then tried calling back using the above number, and got a message that this line is not in service and disconnected. I am in contact with my states Attorney General, and am sending all unwanted numbers to him whenever a call answers, or I call back and then get answered.
Called 17 times over the past week. Most often during work hours and I cannot answer. But today I made a point to watch for the call. "Christy" asked if I had a certain brand of computer which I could not understand. I said no I do not own that brand. She just went on as if I had not spoken telling me that my computer was at risk for over use on the internet. I interrupted her and asked if the call was being recorded for quality assurance? "Christy" said yes Mamm. I said "Good listen carefully, My computer isn't even connected to the internet. I do not have any danger of attacks from the internet. I do not need any assistance with the internet. and lastly you do not have my permission to call this number ever again." She responded that I should not leave my computer hooked up to the internet.
I asked her what was the name of the company. She said Pronet. I asked where were they located. She said Australia. I asked why was an Aussie company calling the US. She stuttered Aussie? Well actually Mamm the company is in Australia but we are calling from South East Asia.... What? Really I said, please put me on the do not call list. I had to repeat that 3 times before she finally said yes Mamm of course Mamm. But I expect I will be getting this number popping up again.
I have received calls from this number over and over, but there is never anyone on the other line. All I hear is music on the line, as if I were on hold. I'm am trying to find a way to block it.
