Recording stated that the IRS intended to file a lawsuit against me and that I should call to get more information. The call-back number was not the same as the originating number, but I did not write it down. The voice in the recording was electronically altered.

Left me a voicemail in a computer voice saying that it was the IRS making a last attempt to contact me.

Indian accented woman calls to tell me my computer has reported through their iCloud security technology that I have a serious virus in my computer and they can prove it. They said they would walk me through the steps and I would see it with mine own eyes. When I didn't believe her, she put a male Indian accented "supervisor" on who was very aggressive about the same thing. Said my computer was in danger. I looked them up on line:

Looked to me like a scam to get me to purchase their services. I asked to be removed from their call list (about 6 times) and finally hung up.

Got a call today from a woman with a heavy middle-eastern accent who started off by saying that she was calling from the USA. She proceeded to tell me that I have been qualified for a $9,000 grant that does not have to be paid back. The call dropped at this point. I guess she forgot to buy more international calling minutes.

Same here. Said he was a windows certified tech from NY and insisted on getting info about my home pc. I just hung up. Unsollicited call, obviously a scam. Stay clear.

At a few minutes after 5 pm this evening, a guy who sounded like he could be Bangladeshi or Indian called the house and I could definitely tell from the delay and sound quality of the line it was an overseas call. He said his name was something like David Wilkinson from "Windows" and, long story short, there was an "infection" on my computer. I heard lots of background noise/some talking of others while I tried to get him to explain. One background voice was distinctly saying a word resembling "...americani". Anyway, I was continuing to get this dude to try and explain, knowing this caller was up to no good, but I decided I'd see what he was trying to pull. I asked if it was a "virus" and he declared that it was not -- insisting it was an "infection". Okay. Whatever, you sleaze-ball. Well, he wanted me to go to the computer "to see if it was affected". Right. (Not gonna happen... I just acted curious to get him to explain more) So I finally changed my tone and told him he was a scammer. He got indignant and told me if I said he was a scam he was going to #@&% me (I have cleaned this up, but you can guess!). Uncalled for! But then again, the whole CALL was uncalled for! Nobody is really ever ready for a scam to happen on the phone... especially a massively rude one! I hope they can figure out how to stop these people, but since the losers can put *any* number in the called ID, there's little chance. These people are definitely international/overseas. Dear Canadian friends & neighbors, we Americans didn't do it! :)

They are phoning Canada, at 8 a.m. Atlantic time, which means if they are in NY they are starting this nonsense at 7 EST. Did not pick up the call, but they woke me up. American authorities need to stop the harassment of Canadians by U.S. telemarketing companies. WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR SCAMS.

A caller with a distinct East Indian accent, calling himself David Wilkinson, claimed that my computer had malicious software and was on the verge of crashing. He said he was from Windows Technical Help, not Microsoft. Being a computer security professional, I played along trying to find out what the deal was. After putting me through a number of benign moves to prove they were legitimate and not hackers, he asked me to download an application called AMMYY.exe and run it. That is when I pulled the plug. Had I run the application, I would have given him complete control of my computer. Big scam. Incidentally, at one point I said I'll call him back, and he gave me a phone number 1-347-468-9508; disconnected and he called right back, not allowing me time to to test that number.

Call did not leave a message. I have been getting a variety of strange calls lately. I never answer calls from unknown numbers, but every number I have looked up afterward has been related to an internet, computer related scam. I wonder how they got my number.

Recv'd call from this number. Female caller with a continental-Indian accent asked for me by name claiming to be a "Windows service provider" , stating they've noted a high level of virus/malware contamination reports from my computer. She pressed me to go to my computer and follow thru with her. I questioned her authenticity "with are you Microsoft?". Her response was that they weren't MS, and that, "no worries", she would pass me to her technical supervisor; in the middle of her statement the line disconnected.
