caller claimed to be culling about my dead father in law. Said that they were from the Department of legal affairs and that I should have his lawyer ca to settle some legal dispute.
Got the same call. Said he was "Jack Wilson" and I needed an attorney and was going to arrested and told me not to leave my house because he was filling out a subpoena and an officer would be there to arrest. I told him I had 10 years of work experience as a legal assistant and that a subpoena is not what gets filled out to have someone arrested. After I hung up a woman called and her call ID said "911" and she said she was calling to get my information so she could fill out an arrest warrant. From 911? Really? I hung up on her as well and she didn't call back.
Yes, It IS a scam. Received call, suspected scam & I said so. I insisted on detailed info re exact name of caller's official office so I could call back after looking up phone number in government directory. Caller realized he struck out and hung up.
Caller with foreign accent said he was from US Treasury legal affairs and laid down all sorts of stuff stating I owed nearly $2600 and I could pay it immediately using some sort of voucher from a convenience store. If not I could try and settle in court and pay fines in excess of $45000 and face jail time (6mo - 2 yrs). At some point I called the local police who said it was a scam. She called the number and the person answered the call. 'Dominos Pizza'. Police told me its a old scam - THE IRS WILL ALWAYS SEND YOU SOMETHING VIA US MAIL!
could not get the name due to a heavy accent from the middle east. He said I did not pay my bill for taxes. I was very evasive with giving him answers. said i had to go to court and pay 2250.00 unless i could convince the court i pay the tax. At that point i told him he was a scam artiest and hung up the phone
