As was stated in the other comment here from ~2 1/2 years ago, the caller self-identified as being a representative of M&T Bank. Stated reason(s) for calling was to stay in touch with those who have an account or other business with the bank during the pandemic, and to offer help in answering any banking questions, help meet the needs of account holders, and to help solve any problems arising from not having as much easier access to the bank's representatives during this time. No sales pitches were initiated by the caller, and no personal information of any kind was sought beyond asking whether or not I had an account with M&T.
