Yes--they did. They were so intimidating. They said they wanted to speak to my husband and to have him call them. First there was a "message" --which is very blunt--I thought I'd end up in jail within a day. I did not reply. Then I got another call and when I heard all the noise I realized it was a Call Centre. I asked, but they evaded the question. They wanted to confirm my address and I said I was not confortable giving them ANY info. Then they has to have my husband (said his first name) to call. So I said okay. A few minutes later I called again and told them I was not comfortable with the phone call and wanted some verification of who they were--so I asked for a Supervisor. I was put on hold and a couple minutes later another lady came on (still lots of noise in background) and she had an accent as well as all the others I had spoke to. She said that my husband could go to --and she gave me the CRA address in Ottawa (not sure if it was correct). I then said I'd let my husband know but she had better be for real or there would be a problem. About 1 hour later I called (after my husband confirmed it was a scam--he saw it on the internet)- this time I let on I hadn't called before. The first try the line was busy and the second try it went through.(By the way--when my husband tried to call from his office he could not get though as the number was "blocked "from any other phone but the ones they call * his was a corporate number.
Anyway--this last call I made I let on I was returning the call and he said he had to look up my "account" and asked for my phone number (?). Then he said he couldn't find my account and I said well-I have this message and want to clear things up.. I then asked for his name for reference and he said ""Peter Brown" and then I said my name is "Sue Doe" -" I have this call taped and am reporting it to the police. I know this is a scam--do you know you are a criminal"? And he responded "I know what you are too"!. SO, I just told him that he "had better find another job fast as this one was coming to an end" and hung up.
I phoned our police and they are well aware of it--this scam has been occurring for a couple years. They told me to report it to "phonebuster.ca"
They also acknowledged how powerless I was left to feel as far a stopping this activity.
Anyway--hope this helps someone--just do not confirm any info on the phone to them and hang up--report at phonebusters.ca---all I can give you right now.

Fraudulent call center operation illegally passing itself off as the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency). Do not speak to them and call the police immediately, reporting their operation as criminal fraud with intent to deceive and defraud, possibly on a sizable scale. Or keep reporting on telephone scam signalling sites on the Internet, such as the present one, on as many reverse directory sites as you can. All the fake "personnel" have very distinctive heavy East Indian accents (our voice analysis suggests primary origin of the persons concerned from around the Bombay or the Mangalore areas, but there are also some seemingly Tamilnadu accents (based on our analysis of multiple calls to their "center" at 613-927-9675)). There is clear call center operating noise in the background, indicating that the scam may be larger than is typical for simple scammers. Beware!! The moment you say you are reporting them to the police for fraudulent misrepresentation, they will hang up.

I just got a message on my answering machine, claiming they are CRA and are going to send a collection agency. We do not owe any money to CRA. When I tried to call back the number was busy.

they called and it was a computer recording, saying they are the CRA. Total scam. I went on the Canada revenue agency website and they said that they would always send something in the mail first, before calling.

this number called me. said they are the CRA. Ya like they would phone and not leave a name and an account # in reference too. They just threaten you instead. Little do they know I know how these scams work. I wasn't born yesterday.
