This phone number demanded for $200,400 (in "overdue tax payments") claiming that he is from the IRS. Obviously, we immediately thought: "Scam," yet they threatened us with a lawsuit AND 5 years of imprisonment. A heavy Indian accent was observed, but no name was given. Badge No. IRM12196. We suspect that from the previous complaints, the badge number is made up.

I got to robotic messages today saying he was an officer with the IRS and they were filing a lawsuit. I called back and the man had a heavy Indian accent, he knew my name and address and I informed him I I do owe IRS and would not be giving him any info that if it was a true lawsuit to serve me as the IRS would and he hung up.

This is a scam....do not call back!

Same as above. Called me twice today. I recently traveled to New York City and this shows up as a NY, NY number. Unsure if it's related.

I revived a call from this number
David Mathews was the name. Badge # IRM 12994. Said go to the IRS web sight to look it up. He had all my personal info. I told him I did not believe he was the IRS. And hung up on him. Very heavy East Indian accent

Got htis same call, from 646-630-8997 July 1. Obvious scam.

We give it back to them, they don't like intimidation. We know what they are.

BTW, the initial contact was a robocall left on my answering machine by an American English speaking person.

I did too on July 1. I returned the call and they wanted my name and phone no. and would not answer any questions until I gave them the information. The agent's name was "Sam Wilson" and he spoke with an accent, possibly Indian. He wouldn't even tell me which office he was calling from. It is a New York number and no way would they be contacting me as I am in Arizona. I told him I was going to check with my local office and report the call before I hung up.
