Same drill as above. "Officer" calls, gives me his number, tells me a complaint has been filed against me by officer Shawn Wood from the Department of Tax Crime. Tells me to call 646-658-3162 immediately.
Call the number back and my local police department picks up. They of course have no knowledge of this and tell me its a scam. That and finding hits on this website.
Computer call stating that the IRS has been trying to contact me and that this is their final attempt. I need to call 646-658-3162 or they are going to sue me. OMG I should call right away and have my SSN readily available, they might need my birthday and address too.... ummmm shouldn't the IRS already have that?
Received Unknown call in caller ID with automated message indicating it was the IRS who had been trying to reach me and please call 646-658-3162. I did and guy with Indian accent answers and requests the phone number for my account that I'm calling regarding I tell him no, I'm not providing anything, how do I know you're really the IRS. He then says well we'll just send an officer to arrest you. I know it's a scam at that point because IRS would send certified mail and simply reply with a laugh, oh, so that's how you think the IRS operates now. Very well, you can talk to my lawyer and he hangs up.
They leave a message, first by a female person with an American accent. They then call a few days later. Person claiming to be Jack Rogers from IRS called, telling to call "Federal Officer" Steven at 646-658-3162.The second person had a Spanish accent, the third person had an Indian accent and seems to be operating out of a call center, because there was a lot of background noise. The IRS doesn't arrest you, they send you paperwork. they don't operated this way. This is a phishing and extortion situation.
I called it back and one guy said he was unaware of the call. Then another guy got on the phone and threatened to kill me. I know the IRS has been cracking down, but cheeze. (646) 658-3162. I reported him
