I get spam texts that are intended for the previous owner of the mobile number I obtained.
Almost everyday, a clever but deceitful & pernicious spammer/scammer, who I used to call "? Unknown Evil Crook phishing scammer" is text spamming scam web links that pretend to be about home refinancing, auto insurance, sweepstakes, shopping, prizes, and more.
My new name for them is Scam Spamming Scamps
Some are phishing scams which spoof another retailer's website. Most of them will end with a opt out messages like
Txt STOP to opt out
Reply "No" to remove
Type "Stop" to end.
..all of which are bait designed to get a response, to make sure there's someone there who can be added to their database for future spamming.
Do not send back any text replies if you want it to end. If you do, you will get more spam texts from that and more numbers. Just block the numbers and report them to your carrier and other groups who are compiling lists of fraudulent activities.
I made the mistake of texting STOP. Then, I got back this deceptive response:
"NETWORK MSG: You replied with the word "stop" which blocks texts sent from this number. Text back "unstop" to receive messages again."
...and soon, a flood of spam texts started pouring in from many more numbers and the one that responded with that lie.
No doubt this predatory and deceptive activity has been inspired by (and may have the tacet approval of) an infamous executive government leader who had repeatedly cheated and intimidated clients when he was directly in charge of his multi-billion dollar business empire, repeatedly lied in his new office, who seemingly favors a feudalistic business climate of total deregulation while he worships Ayn Rand's ugly portrait.
Here's a few websites displayed in these spam texts, and don't waste your time clicking unless you are a curious computer expert who, unlike myself, won't be suckered into texting back any reply, and knows how to examine this crap. Some of the websites redirect through many links, (which will enter into your browser's history) which quickly disappear before you notice them, all of which have many ridiculously long URLs , like the one for emdw.us which becomes

How evil can these crook's get!? At the end of this scam URL you can see: "#no-back-button" , a programming code which prevents you from navigating to any prior page in the browser.

ALL these links came from the phone numbers of the same crooks who successfully suckered me into replying "No" , which was all it took to receive more scam-spam in one month than in the last 5 years combined.
Here's the scamming spammers' phone numbers so far, and will likely include more which will be shared as soon as they occur. Remember, if you first investigate or report them before blocking them, they may be displayed as "Not Spam", but ignore that. They are indeed egregious Spam for a Scam.
