Just received this call and was advised he was a DELL technician and I have issues popping up in my computer. The scary part is he was giving me my Service Tag number and wanted to help me fix my issues.

Bob called to buy two boat transmissions. $3,600
Said he worked in South America in a fishing area.
He was to have me ship the items to a Miami freight forwarder.
Had me send a Paypal invoice. Three days later had a gal call and said she was going to wire me the money. She just need my check routing and account number.
She said that their Paypal acct had a $1,000 limit.
I told her to send $500 to secure the order. Haven't heard from them since.

(661) 748 0240 appears on outbound calls for Skype users - who have not set up their Skype caller ID yet. A Skype forum says this number is a generic default number. So, it could be from anyone and different people and "entities," and perhaps from a real friend or family member. It is also found to be a "spoofed" phone number, which means CYBERCRIMINALS "tricked" your caller ID to display the incorrect or default skype phone number with a nefarious purpose. NO LEGITIMATE BUSINESS WOULD USE a Skype default # unless they're hiding something.

Telemarketers do this so you cannot complain. Crooks do this to sell malware, scam you into giving them a remote connection of your computer to fix what is "infected with viruses", impersonate Microsoft, ISP or other company, to extort or commit other crimes. Criminals are noted to use personal information in the phone calls.

Anyhow, my call went like this. They insulted me saying that my website is, cough, cough not ranking well on Google. We are an SEO company. Choke. I told him we are ranking well on all our industry keywords. He says "good luck." Yeah, good luck to you, too scammer.

Another day, another scam. These moron pigs used to call us several times several months ago but we stopped answering calls with Unknown Name, Private Caller, etc., etc., etc. These pigs would sometimes call @ 4:00 am, 2:00 am, and leave a message to return their call which we never did. Then the calls stopped so we thought one dimwit, nincompoop moron off the list of these worthless calls. But the morons have started calling back. Called @ 5:40 pm on 11/3, 10:18 am on 11/4. Of course, they don't leave a message because they think we are as stupid as they are and will try to call their stupid skype call !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the crap we have to go thru every day as business owners with the phone line that we have to pay for each month to AT&T !!!!!!!!!! And to think NSA is so worried about Americans trolling thru the internet - LOL

He claims he was from (windows pc support) do you not believe these scams, he requested to gain access to my computer then wanted me to enter my credit card information. I kept telling him there's nothing wrong with my PC. I eventually hung the phone up and he kept calling!

I think I can provide some clarification here. This appears to be a general number that is reported by caller ID when people call phones from SKYPE. I placed a test call from Skype to my cell phone and this is the number that comes up, and I assure you, I definitely did not place any of the horrible calls listed here. It also explains why there are so many DIFFERENT reports. In short, this could be anyone when the call comes through.

You are right. I did the same test. We love to talk to grandkids using videocalls. We can inexpensively call friends around the world by using Skype to regular phones. Then comes people who have to ruin a good thing. They have a Skype account and can make all these scandalous calls. On the phone log this same number comes up! How can Skype find a way to block all but a few to you known Skype users?

He called my daughters phone, he claimed he knew her and proceeded to ask her if he could have sex with her and her brother at the same time. She hung up, he called right back. I answered, said a few choice words and hung up. He called back twice, we sent him to voicemail.
