1-18-2016 , today, my son received eml much the same as shown, using Same phone number, same name, said they were with Cash Advance America and that he owed $694 which he knew he did not owe. They said they would put a hold on his SS check if he did not pay. He was also told him that he could make a minimum payment of $200 by money order or moneygram from Walmart. He called Cash America and told them about eml and they said that they do not call people and threaten them, nor do they put holds on governmental checks. He was told to report it to their debt collection dept.
Upon my son finding out it was a scam, he called bacj number asked for Jerry Brown, and told him that he k ew it was a scam and that his relative with the FBI would be made aware of the phone number( a landline) located in Tehachapi, CA. Carrier: Ymax Communications Corp., CA . They would be contacting them.

I Googled the number. Apparently its affiliated with Cash Net as a debt collectors service. The number didn't match that with any states attorney number in California.
