Just called with a very heavy Indian accent talking about he's from the "magistrate" and it's urgent I get back in touch. Saw this SCAM on an episode of inside edition of all places.

Stupid scam call. I've gotten this call before from other numbers. Uses the word Magistrate...lol.

Definitely a scam. Way too vague. I get audited regularly and I can tell you the IRS is never vague. They have also never called me. They always send a written notice that is quite specific. I've never had to verify anything other than deductions. Notify the AG in The state of origin and Your state and maybe they can do something about it.

They're impersonating a Federal Agency/Agent. That's a Federal Crime! I plan on reporting them as such to local agencies in the area, like the FBI. I hope the duo's reading this too.

To the people who indicated that it is a "threatening call", don't be taken in by it! IT IS A SCAM! In the first place, the call is coming from central North Dakota. He wants me to call him back on a personal number. And if I even bothered to do so, all he would want is some "further information" from me so he can unburden me of any funds that he can get his hands on. I've gotten these before. It's a shame that people would even fall for it, because the IRS would NEVER call you if there is an issue of any kind.

Not to mention they called me at 4 pm... You see I'm pacific time, making it 6 pm in North Dakota. Ever hear of the department of treasury collecting on behalf of the IRS? Let alone working overtime trying to collect it? No matter how you slice it, it a scam!

They claim to be department of treasury and That they got my number from the IRS. However, the number they called is a company issued phone that I've only had one week. The phone isn't even registered to me, but my employer. I laughed at them when they told me an arrest warrant had been issued and they were calling to straighten it out with me. There's 0 possibility the IRS has my contact info listed as the number they called. I laughed so hard, the caller got his supervisor, then they hung up on me.
