You are probably a Cablevision customer- they own Newsday and you are receiving these calls to solicit Newsday service.
Newsday does not have to honor any Do Not Call Registry, because you have or are doing business with Cablevision, the parent company.
You need to opt out of Cablevision using your phone number.
Here are the numbers to stop Cablevision from calling you or mailing you info regarding products or sending your info to 3rd party vendors-

Do Not Mail - 1-888-425-2090

Do Not Disclose - 1-888-425-2089

You will be required to enter your phone number, the one on your Cablevision account. This should stop the phone calls and any other mailings soliciting their products.

Calls several times in a row all day long at all hours of the day, when I answer they hang up

2 calls /day. Call just states "press 1 to accept or press 2 to leave a call back message"

Calling 4 or 5 times a day, do not answer when you answer phone
