SCAM ALERT!

This number, 702.879.4528, is being CallerID-spoofed/forged by a small-time scammer operating out of Vegas. Other spoofed numbers associated with this scammer are 702.876.4815 & 702.948.7558 & 702.255.1238. I know these numbers are all related because as soon as one stops calling, the next one starts. If you answer you either get dead air … or the scammer.

The reason everyone is hearing dead air all the time is because this scammer is letting his automatic dialer equipment run 16 hours a day, seven days a week. Then he’s only picking up whenever he already happens to be beside the phone - and when he’s not already busy talking to some other potential victim.

If you callback you get dead air, “disconnected” message, or cryptic voicemail systems. Callbacks don’t matter anyway; the scammer is just forging these CallerIDs anyway.

According to other posters, the scams vary. ScamOne: Offer for a cheap vacation at a Vegas casino (some of which don’t even exist). ScamTwo: Offer of easy&cheap insurance. It all just pretexting to obtain credit card numbers, birthdays & other identity information.

I travel to Vegas regularly & I’ve given my number to more than a few attractive ladies there - cocktail waitresses, etc. I suspect one of them, who had collected a ton of numbers from “men of means,” sold all the numbers in a single bundle to this scammer guy. Thanks, sugar. He’s probably found other sources for ‘qualified’ bundles of numbers as well. Enough numbers to keep his dialing equipment going constantly. Now all Mr. Scammer has to do is change up his spoofed phone number every week or so.

If I ever actually get to speak to the guy, I am going to tell him I am an federal agent monitoring all traffic on this line for reported identity theft activity. I bet THAT will get my number deleted from his dialer system.
