SCAM! Cold call to my cell about starting an online business for guaranteed income ($15,000 per month) with no work. Rang once and they hung up. I tried calling them back and got a recorded message to check my voice mail. The Voicemail referred me to a website (www.newincomeplan.com) where they wanted information (name, phone number, eMail address, etc.) so they could continue to contact me. I made up some bogus info so I could take a better look at their scam. The website had a real scruffy looking dude trying to fast-talk me into getting hooked into his pyramid scheme. (Question: If he's making so much money, how come can't comb his hair, shave, and wear a dress shirt?) Then he wanted me to go to a webinar (Lie: it's a pre-recorded sales pitch) to high-pressure me into signing on. FRAUD!!!!
Here's my perspective:
1) They called a number that is on the National Do Not Call List. If they were legitimate, they would be abiding by the law.
2) They cold-called my cell phone. Unslicited calls to a cell phone are in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) of 1991 and 2015. If they were legitimate, they would be abiding by the law.
3) Their "program" is basically a pyramid scheme with a creative twist. Pyramid schemes are a violation of federal law.
What would make me think that someone who is in violation federal laws will do anything for me that will have a positive impact on my life?
Investment call. Robocall blocked it but I still got a voice mail from the caller. What gives?
Believes they have a job.
