CenterPoint Energy does not sell electricity to individuals. They sell electricity to providers who then sell it to individuals. CenterPoint Energy would not be contacting any individual to tell them that service is being disconnected.
I got a call from the scammers today and let it go to voice mail which was promptly deleted.
The caller ID showed that it was CenterPoint Energy. I knew that it was probably a scam BUT answered it anyway. Sure enough, a pre-recorded voice said that my "electricity was scheduled to be cut off in 30 minutes" and to avoid this "press 1 to speak to a representative". I am on automatic pay to my electric and gas company. Just to be sure, I checked my CenterPoint account and all is well. I do not know what type of scam they are trying to pull as I hung up on them.
I got the same call and I don't even have Centerpoint Energy. So frustrating.
If you don't answer the call and redial 173-207-2222, you will get a recording from Centerpoint saying they are aware of the scam.
Robo call from Centerpoint Energy phone number today 05/18/2022, saying my service is about to be disconnected and to press 1 to talk to an operator. SCAM. Must be spoofing their number somehow.
