SCAM
Received a call from a "prison in Texas" stating that a "loved one" was trying to contact me and wanted me to accept a "collect call." I said F-That! Hung up immediately.
The number was 1(713) 493-0759
I don't answer calls unless i know the number. This number left a Voice mail and A message was left saying press 1 to prevent calls from "this facility press 9. Hello this is a prepaid debit call from "love you and miss you" at (bisldjgklfkldsj county jail) it used my area's jail (which isn't in texas) asking me to accept charges (in a voicemail). The funny thing is.. I don't know anyone that is incarcerated.
A call was put through to my cellular telephone at 8 pm HST saying this
call was an emergency call from a certain person and that person's voice was played. the number was 1 7134930759. They then asked me for a credit card number to be punched in to continue the call and connect me to that person. I was stupid enough to do that. Never connected so I called HPD and met them to report what had happened.
They told me to change my telephone number. They did verify that the alleged person was arrested for DUI, but that the police or local prison system would not handle any call like that. I haven't been able to verify if that person is all right, as mailbox was full and texts were not answered. I reported it to my AT&T service provider. They helped me block this call and other unsolicited calls.
I have received 2 calls within one week stating a person that is incarcerated was try to call me. One wanted me to setup an account to be able to accept these calls. No name was mentioned either time just "an inmate" and "an offender" was used. The second one stated the Karn correctional facility.
