I have a friend who bailed on her student loan, has since moved and changed her number. She originally gave my number as backup and now I can not get the collection agencies to stop calling me.
Received call today (May 2, 2018) while I was out. Came home and saw the call log listing 713-496-3831 having called. The caller ID says Hess Corp but I was skeptical as I am familiar with this company. I called the number and a recording says to hold as “it is very important we speak to you”. It did not even identify itself. I hung up immediately as my suspicion it not bring from Hess is confirmed.
This is a debt collector, who is also trying to do some data mining and phishing. I got them to identify themselves, and that's how I found out who they were.
