I got a call and picked up no answer. The ID came up HOME SECURITY. I am on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. I picked up and said HELLO and silence. I called back and an auto message. In searching for the number, it seems to be an unsolicited scam to sell a security system as required by the FBI. Will not answer? I fraudulent security company is more likely casing and checking to see if I am home or not. AVOID!!!
This company calls numbers on the national do-not-call registry, in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. In addition, they play a recorded message without an operator on the line when the phone is answered - also a violation of the TCPA. The recording claims that you are eligible for a free home security system, and that it is required by local law enforcement (and recommended by the FBI). Then when you do get to an operator, the operator refuses to provide a phone number or address when asked (again a violation of the TCPA - but also something that 100% of legitimate businesses will gladly do). This is clearly a scam. They are making unfounded claims about local law enforcement, and refuse to provide any information to identify their organization or allow you to contact them. Do not provide these scammers with any of your personal information.
