I have found the most effective way to deal with these calls is not the DNC registry, but is to set up a silent ringtone (no ring) on my cell phone, and have a contact labeled Telemarketer. I give him this silent ringtone. Every time I get a call from one, I add it to this contact's list of numbers. When I get a call from one of the telemarketers, my phone rings as usual, but no sound comes out. I don't know that they are calling unless I happen to glance at the phone. I now have about 40 numbers on that contact's account, and when I get a call from a telemarketer, it is the last time I'll hear from them, as they get added. It's my "Do Not Answer" list.

Lowering credit card interest rates, acting as if they represent the consumer's actual credit card holder!

My interest rate on my credit card would go up if I did not respond to this call.

Offer a lower credit rate, but I don't have credit cards. If you press them for details they hang up. If you call back, you get a "full" mailbox... I've asked multiple times for them to stop calling, but they call several times a week (and my husband).

Lower credit card rates (not actually own bank, have previously pressed "1 for more info" and it appears to be a scam to get credit card info, they hang up as soon as I start asking them to remove me from their list.

Said that I currently have no outstanding balance or issues with my credit car but that they could lower my interest rate on my current credit card. I have asked to be taken off of this list before and they say sure and never do anything. This time I first asked to speak to a manager and he hung up on me.

The message states that they can lower interest rates on credit cards. At first, they make it sound like they are with one of my existing credit cards.
