It offered to lower my interest rates on my credit card (did not specify which card). When I pressed 1 to speak to someone, they immediately asked for my card number.

The call was in regards to lowing the APR on an existing credit card. The message implies they already have your credit information and is designed to trick you into providing your credit card numbers out.

They are calling me because it is important and it is about my credit card (I don't have one, so it is obviously spam). When I try to call them back, the phone number is not a working number, so I can't tell them (again) to stop calling me!!! These calls are always to my cell phone number!

I have received this call numerous times in the past year. I have called them back and asked them to remove me from their calling list and they hang up on me. I did this several months ago. I do not know the exact date. They start the call by indicating that they are calling about my credit card. They do not give the name of my card. Then they go on to say that I should not be worried because there is nothing wrong with my card. Then they ask me to call a number. Currently the mail box on this number is full.

Stated that my credit card interest rate could be reduced to 6.9%. Instructed me to press (1). Phone rang many times. I hung up. I called back using caller I.D. (720-539-6698) and found it was from someone named 'Mike' and his mailbox was full.

I never answer numbers I don't recognize. I use Youmail to manage all of my calls and it works extremely well for spammers/scammers. It's free and it's a magificent service. I haven't had any repeat callers since I've been using it. It doesn't eliminate the problem but it sure helps. Once you have their number and register it in your youmail account, you can control what they hear and even prevent them from leaving voicemail. I LOVE IT!
