They claimed to be from "ABS". The caller ID indicated "National Service." They were promoting annual heating and air conditioner service to ensure my A/C unit continues to run properly. I asked if they have ever serviced my unit before and they said they did not have that information. I asked how they came to have my phone number and they could not tell me. I rent the house in which I live. The landlord installed a brand new heating & air conditioning unit 2 years ago, and the landlord arranges and pays for all maintenance on the A/C unit. I have NEVER contacted ANYONE regarding the performance of work on an A/C unit from this telephone line. When I informed them that my phone is registered with the Do Not Call Registry and that their solicitation is a violation of the law and they are subject to being fined, they immediately disconnected the call.
