Portfolio Recovery Associates - apparently someone gave my number for a loan. I called after the first time I received a "No Answer" on my cell and they immediately took my # off their calling list. Of course, it helps when it says "U S Department of Justice" when you call.
It's PRS. I have NEVER received any type of collection letter from them. And I don't answer my cell if I don't know the number.
I'm doing two things. I own a 'Droid and purchased an app that I can block their calls once I get the number. The 'Droid keeps a call log so I purchased an app that I can save the call log to either the 'Droid or the SD card. Once I feel I have overwhelming evidence I'm going to file a formal complaint with the AG's of their home state and the state I live in and with the FCC. Then I'm going to consult with a lawyer about suing them. I'll have hard evidence of harassment for the Feds.

Have to add this... on the very top menu is the call blocking app I purchased for my 'Droid; Call Control.
I actually had a good experience with portfolio Recovery. I knew I had an account that I've been making payments on every month. The problem is that I ran out of checks one month and called in the payment to them. Then the calls started and they had an old phone number for me and my work # which they called and left the typical message "this is a debt collection call...." They called my cell # today and when I called them back I finally got a compassionate woman on the line who said that when they've called my old number to update whether I wanted to do another payment via phone they called my old number and work #....I asked her to only call my cell and she updated my records as apparently they never set me up on a payment plan!!!
Portfolio Recovery service--this horrible company has hundreds of different phone numbers they call from---they harass you and threaten you and tell you that you have to give up your bank information---someone needs to look into this company---I am sure what they are doing is illegal. Do NOT give them ANY information., they also insist that they cannot send you any information on your debt claiming they already have and that now your debt has escalated to this level. Pure Bull.
let them call, they'll lose more $ than it's worth to keep calling.
they're scum company any way. tried to work with them years ago, they failed to keep their part. now just let it ring and go to voice mail
