The call claimed to be from "account services" and was offering a lower rate on my credit card. I got a person and asked for the name and address of the company calling. He asked if why I needed this. I repeated the request and he asked if this was a person or a recording. I said it was a person and he was making an illegal call. He then hung up on me.

The FBI reports that x# of homes are being broken into each day... If you will allow us to place a sign in your yard we will install a new security system at little or no charge if you would like to speack to a representative please press 1 now or press 2 to be placed on our do not call list. The problem is we always press 2 to get on the do not call list but they have NEVER put us on that list and they call 4 to 6 times a DAY!!!

Rachel from "account services" called to reduce the interest rate on my credit card. I don't own a credit card. She did not include the name of the credit card company. I am answering questions 12-13 with a NO response because I would never request a company to contact me to open a line of credit. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST so to answer Question 14, yes.

We have been getting this same call from a large variety of numbers for the past couple of years. Usually it's "Rachel" who is offering some "lower your interest rate" scam. Today they robodialed my wife's cell phone and "Rachel" has become "Heather." The calls supposedly originate from areas such as Seattle, Phoenix and even the Dominican Republic. This one however is from the area code of Mammoth Lakes, California, down the southeast side of the state out to Oceanside. I think the numbers are "spoofed." That means we don't know where they're really coming from. I expect they may simply be looking for your credit card number to run up charges on it. If you have the time to complain about it, please do so. The Attorneys General of some states, such as Arkansas, have filed suits against these telemarketers who are usually from south Florida.

They misrepresented themselves by saying they were calling from one of my credit cards in order to lower my APR...false claim...tried to sell me something

BEWARE! It started with what it sounds like a "profesional" legitimate recording, telling you that they can help you lower your credit card rates. Very promptly, someone with an accent answered the phone. He didn't even told me what bank was he representing, until I asked; his answer: "Bank of America, Citibank and Capital One". As soon as I said no thank you, he hanged up. It seems they wanted to get my info... like that was going to happen!
