I got a call from 1-760-705-8888 and nobody answered. And when I tried calling back, it would say the number is disconnected.

i mean why have it, what i it for?
theyneed to add a list of phones you cant do that to, and make a number you call to get on that list, if you agree reply to this post, and post your reson why, cause im tired of being called 90 times a day by that.

agreed. i don't think it's necessary, with telephones, texts, bbm, skype, etc. the last thing i need is my phone ringing more...

This gmail number comes up with the following area code +1(760) which is located in Escondido, CA. If you live outside of the US or dont have long distance plans then you will get charged receiving these calls.

Don't panic.. I just got of the phone with my sister. is a new FREE program from GMAIL that allows you to make free calls.. that the 7607058888 phone number. :-)

i had this call me on augest 27/2010 and some guy with what sounded like a fake british accent new me by name, and what city im in. asking me about picking strawberries or something like that then i said i had no plans for that and hes like oh... and then he was like what ya got planned today and i was like i work today
and then hes like oh where do ya work then i said a call centre and he said how do ya like that brah? and i was like its alright then hes like cool brah anyways i hope you have a great day today
then i was like you too
and the call ended.
like wtf?????

this person has called me as well - about 20 times this summer, it seems semi-intelligent. i think it is some company developing a better phone computer system by calling random people. Either that or some moron has way too much time on his hands.

This phone number is used by some gmail phone users. It is a new google add-on that allows people to call from thier gmail account. I've already been called by the number and i think it's long distance

Peter you are right, this is a number used by gmail phone users, but it is not long distance as far as I know. There is no charge for gmail phone users to call all over the country using gmail. Don't be surprised if phone spammers and bill collectors also start using it, since it can't be traced....which would ruin a good thing. It's great, doesn't burn up your minutes on your cell.
