Let me just say, if the real IRS needs to reach you they will always mail you a letter regarding what ever the issue is. My call today was as follows:
"This is your last and final call from the IRS. You must call us back immediately."
I have received these scam calls from the "IRS" before. Doesn't matter if you are on the do not call list. It is not about bills not being paid. Like to play "devil's advocate" so I called back four times after I looked up the area code. Asked where they called from and they said Washington, DC, so I challenged her and she hung up. Called back second time and asked for her supervisor and she said "no!" you can't and hung up. Called back the third time and a "supervisor" answered, what a coincidence! I asked for her badge number and name. There is no way that a parent from India or Pakistan gave their daughter such an American name. And the badge number is way off. I have a friend who actually works for the IRS, so. I called back the fourth time and the receiver was picked up and they answered "hello, hello, hello, can you hear me" then hung up. Every other time they answered "IRS, what does this call concern?" These calls are very rampant around tax time. Let me just say again, the real IRS will always mail you a letter regarding any problem or issue. Straight from the IRS information.
