Was called twice by this number today. Answered the 2nd time thinking it was a work call and he said "hello I am calling from windows support" in a thick East Indian sounding accent. I said for what? He said your computer. I said who are you trying to reach then? And he hung up. Figured this was a scam; got online and saw that others received the call. Scam. People who are calling for a reason know who they are dialing.
Just called my mom and said she was having issues with her computer. She knew it was a lie she don't have a computer.
(765) 334-4249, from Cambridge City, IN. He said he called to ask about "my computer." When I asked him which computer, he said "your personal computer," so I knew he was either trying to sell me something or scam me. He promptly hung up so I assume it was a scam. He sounded like he was Indian or perhaps Pakistani.
As an addition to my earlier post, I discovered that they are using Skype.
They called today. Caller ID placed them in Cambridge City, Indiana. They're not really there but so long as the carriers allow them to play these shell games (money in their pockets at our expense) it will continue.
He said he was from Windows Support and my computer was sending, blah, blah, blah, just like the other reports. Of course he could not provide the specific date/time of the message. He said "today" and I told him my computer was not turned on today. He said, "Well check yesterday." I said, "What's my computer's IP address. He rattled off random numbers which weren't even in the correct format for an IP address.
I told him it was time for him to go F*@! some goats.
