I received this call at my request. My experience entailed a call from one of my financial institutions to confirm that I was in fact changing my password and also logging in from a new device. You are asked to enter a 1, 2, or 3 digit code that appears on your devices screen to authenticate your login, password change, log in from a new device, or whatever change you might have made to your personal online banking information.
I find this to a VERY safe call and I LOVE my credit union for taking this extra step to verify that I am the one who is actually changing the information since I was a victim of identity theft in the past.
I would WHITE LIST this phone number, but a hacker may still be able to use a "spoofer" to show this number on your caller ID when in fact they are calling to see if you will give out your private banking info...
So whatever you do, please do NOT give anyone your SS#, account numbers, pin numbers, or any other pertinent info that they could use to take over your financial life.
If in doubt, call your financial institution ASAP to verify that they did in fact just call you to verify information on your account. If not, call the police ASAP, and also make a report to the FCC.
Thank you for taking the time to read this & I hope that your day is filled with smiles, sunshine and sparkles!!

This is now a company in Illinois called Authentify. They call your phone to ask for a code when you log into certain websites from a new device. In my case this was a legit call. You may want to whitelist this number, which I will. But, if you have a new number you could be getting erroneous calls or a hacker could be trying to access your web account.

The caller is an obnoxious person who cusses and becomes arrogant and abusive if you hang up or try to ignore his phone calls.
