Received twice of this scam call this week. The guy mentioned about TD credit card promotion with an strong accent....I asked him to call back later. In the mean time, I try to contact TD and do a google search.
Thanks for the pioneer unveil this number.
Just called me today. The guy was saying he was from TD and was asking if I'm interested in a credit protection program they're offering for $19.99 + taxes. Was asking for my personal information. I gave away my name and address but when he asked for my DOB I thought it was fishy and hung up. I doubt it's from TD
A guy called me claiming he is from TD offering a protection plan. He said the first month will be free and I can cancel anytime within the first month trial. He said it will be just under $20 a month. When I asked him for more details on it he couldn't really give me much more info. Just said I should try it for one month as it's free, certain I will love it and decide later. I decided to try it and when he began asking me for my personal information I said I will think about it and go to TD if I decide to try. He said thanks and hung up.
I just got a call too, that lady said the exact same thing about offering a fraud protection plan. I kept telling her I did not need the plan, she would aggressively push me to say that it was offered free for the first month and that I should get it! I also told her that I would go to TD bank and she would say that they are not associated with the bank and that they do not offer this plan in the bank. I told her no so many time and she would continue to push and at the end she said she will offer me with a website to take a look at the plan, when I said no and thanks for her time she just hung up on me!
The lady just phoned me and claimed that she is from the TD bank. She talked like a robot and acted like a professional. She would tell you your name and your address in order to get your trust. Then, she would ask you for your email address and the date of birth. DO NOT GIVE HER ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION! JUST HANG UP ON HER! After I told her that I don't feel safe and am going to the TD bank and talk to them in person. She started to stammer and said she is from a different company.
