The caller asks you to go to a website that will grant them access to your computer. The caller stated that my computer was running slow and if I did not allow them to help me, my computer was in danger of a virus. The caller had a foreign accent. The telephone number they called from was from Alberta, Canada according to my Caller ID.

Caller was trying to scam me by saying my computer was infected by a virus and they wanted me to pay them to get it off my computer. Complete scam.

I believe this was a phishing call. They warned me that my computer was tapped/utilized for illicit activity. And, they wanted me to visit a website where I could "see for myself" the problem.

When I told them I though this was a scam, the caller got belligerent and wanted to argue with me about what I knew about my own computer.

On my caller id, the name was listed as "Alberta"

The individual who called had a strong Indian accent, so I was not able to really understand the name of the company.

Caller ID said the caller was "Alberta" at 780-409-4786 but a callback got a message that the number was not ion service. The caller tried to convince me my computer had been compromised and wanted me to go to their web site to download their software and run it to "remove junk files." The woman had a Jamaican accent and had trouble with English. She sounded like she was reading a script.

Said he was calling from "Computer Services Dept.," and that they were "receiving messages" from my computer. When I pressed him for WHY he was calling and the name of his company, he hung up. Indian accent.
