Received a call from what seemed to be an overseas call center.
Caller ID showed the contact info as 'ameyo', phone number 780 409-4786.
Was told my computer was causing errors on their server, not from a virus, but from malicious bugs. Was told to turn my computer on. Asked what type of Operating system I was running on my PC, I told them they should know from the errors my PC was supposedly causing.
As soon as I asked if they ever heard of the FCC and a Do Not Call list they hung
Rec'd an unsolicited call from an "Annie Watson" of a company she said was "iSecure Web". She was insisting that I had an error problem with my computer and that I needed to immediately turn on my computer so she could access it. I told her that I was on the National No call list and she continued to ask me to go and turn on my computer. I asked her what type of computer I had and she said it was a Windows machine (which is incorrect). I asked her how she got my number and she said she got a serious error report regarding my computer. When I asked more about her and her company and their information she ultimately hung up the phone. She had a thick accent. My caller ID recorded for this call: "DOTS Phone AB" with a phone number of "1-780-409-4786."
The consumer is recieving "abandoned/dead air" calls from Alberta, Canada.
Home computer virus. Caller claimed that my home computer is sending 'errors' to his server and that I need to buy his virus protection to clean up my computer. This is a scam.
