Rec'd message they there was suspicious activity under my SS Account and that it would be suspended

My friend got a voicemail today from this number 781-328-2741 saying her social security benefits had been cancelled. She did not call back. The name and location of the 781 number came up with MY name and address. This incident has been reported to the carrier.

I got a call from that number today on my cell phone detailing there was unusual activity with my social security number, and that my number was suspended. And if I wanted details, to press one. After that I was connected to someone who claimed he was from the Dept of Social Security and asked what I wanted. I told him that he called me, and asked what he wanted. Then he wanted to verify my identity. I told him that he called me, and asked who he was trying to reach. He gave me my mother's name, but with my address. There was a lot of suspicious background noise going on. He sounded India Indian if I had to guess, but he said his name was Mike Wilson when I asked. He was also able to give me an employee id number when I asked for that, but it was just too fishy. The stupid thing was he called both my cell phone number and my office number, so I really am wondering if my information is floating around out there somewhere.

I pressed 1. An operator answered and I claimed it was a scam. Operator asked who told me and i said i had suspicions. He went silent and i hung up.
