basically anyone who says your computer is infected by a virus hang up and remove the computer from the network fast.
Yes, they called me today. Told them I was an IT specialist and would run a virus scan and investigate the issue without their assistance. then I hung up
I just had the lady call. said her name was Sharon James. I told her there was nothing wrong with my computer. She said that i've been ignoring all their warnings and emails. I told her she was full of crap, that they never sent me anything. She said they tried. I politely told her that if there was a problem with my computer, Microsoft would fix it. When I asked for her badge number, and that I would call her back, she hung up on me. I know we shouldnt talk to them, but i do it to keep them making from one less call to someone else, and hopefully spare an elderly from being targeted. HP will never call you and tell you any of this. I've actually called HP and had them working on my computer when one of these callers called. when I told him thanks for the info, that I had an HP rep working on my computer now, the scam caller cussed me out then hung up.
spam caller said they wanted to fix my HP computer. asked me to provide access to my PC with ShowMyPC. DO NOT DO THIS. caller is trying to access your financial files! BEWARE
this is a spam caller
