I got mail from these crooks. First of all I was on payment plan for both irs and state tax department. I finished with both plans since last year. I have confirmation from both all is well. This is a scam trying to get your business. You can do what I did go to the tax department and make payment plans on your own.

Received a letter with "TAX PROCESSING UNIT" at the top. It looked immediately fishy to me and I looked up and found these comments. When I called and they didn't ask my company name or who I was but immediately went into How much is the notice,is it Federal or State, When I confronted them about this being a scam they woiuldn't answer my questions, and started saying how marketing firms send them information, so I started asking about are they attempting to collect a debt on behalf of the state they listed, and she hung up. Interesting.

They called; I'm actually on a payment plan w / The IRS; When I call 800)217-7098, the outgoing message to me states that the call is being recorded WITHOUT IDENTIFYING themselves. THAT was my big clue.

I have received several letters from the " TAX PAYER PROTECTION PROGRAM," to call this number to avoid IRS property seizure for unpaid taxes. TOTAL SCAM. DON'T FALL FOR IT. I reported them to the REAL IRS.

I received a 'somewhat' official looking letter from the "TAX PROCESSING UNIT" to call this number to avoid IRS seizure of property for owed taxes. Obvious scam.
