Received the same call from a man with a very deep voice -- his name was Martin, then he later said his name was Thomas. The exact same situation as mentioned above.
I received a phone call from 937-810-0040 also from a woman saying that she was trying to serve papers and that they kept coming back deliverable. They were papers to serve my mom but she didn't know what the papers were for. I was given a number to call. the number was 888-496-4261 end I spoke with an Eric Fisher at ext. 509. He said that my mom was being sued from HSBC which was one of her old credit cards over 10 years old. He said that the account was about to have a judgement placed against it and that tax returns, checking accounts so on and so forth could be garnished. The account was still open to be settled if a good faith payment could be made today. I told them I wouldn't do anything unless I had something in writing first, guess what their address comes back as a UPS store in California. Their is no law office as Stein and Meyer to even come up on google anywhere. These people are bogus, they are just looking for people to take money from.

I got a phone call 1st from an unknown woman saying she was trying to serve me papers (for a lawsuit) from this company. She told me to call this number 800-251-4217 for the law offices of Stein & Meyer. Guy named Donald answered the phone & proceeded to tell me that they were going to sue for an old debt from 2007. The original debt showed on my credit report back in 2014 & I disputed it & it was removed. That was for $432 & this guy is trying to get a "settlement" for OVER $1800. Told me that statue of limitations was 10 years & I can still be sued. LIES! File a complaint here: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/
He also told me this was back on my credit. I haven't checked yet. Are they posting to your credit?
