A note popped up on my computer screen yesterday that my computer was infected with a virus and that I had to call 800-253-1448 in order to get rid of the virus. When I called them, they asked me to press CTRL+R+Windows Icon and enter some certain code which included the words "iexplore" and "assist." They told me that my computer was infected with a virus and that I need to clean it. They offered their services for a price. One of the prices was $366 for 3 months. They claimed they were giving me Symantec services. I refused to pay and the person started demanding a payment and I hung up. They sent an icon to my computer "Identity Protection." After reading about computer virus scams on my computer, I and I deleted the icon today. I am afraid they have infected my computer and have access to my personal information. I went to my bank and changed my account numbers. I am going to call credit card company and ask for a new card. I will file a police report too. When will we be free from scammers? Are they going to control our lives for a long time?

a screen pop up on my wife's laptop. She called them and the guy was Indian. But he convinced her that they are part of Symantec. And there is lots of malware in the computer and if she does not subscribe to new version of Symantec, the computer will shut down right now. He sold her a package for $375 and took her bank account numbers.
After I learned about this (I was travelling), I realized that it is a fraud. I called cancelled the bank account number, got her reset the laptop. Anything else should we do?

for windows use the control alt del buttons at same time to get the task manager and use that to close your browser. That will get rid of their popups. I would then call their number 1-888-648-1549 constantly every time you are at a hotel or somewhere they can't call you back. Play rude messages, basically just waste their time, or get one of the apps that can spoof the number you are calling from and bug them from the convenience of your own home. Regardless where the website is I'm pretty sure they are in India or somewhere else in that region.

They are changing the scam a bit. Now they have changed their call recording to more resemble what a real legitimate call center would have on their in bound call recordings.

I opened the scam email and the message popped up, saying with the speaker phone that unless you call this number, your computer is hijacked. My computer was completely locked. I had a scheduled call online within an hour and so I called the number, bought the software they sell. Our IT guy told me that they are legitimate, which made me feel better because they were not stealing my identity. BUT, such a forceful way of selling any products is simply wrong. I'm now having our IT guy cleaning my computer. What a hassle.

Your IT guy is a moron if he said they are legit.
This is malware and extortion.

These guys are total scammers. Right after I told them all my info I googled them and found this site. So I told them to stop whatever they were doing and get off my computer. All they did was argue that they weren't scammers, and basically refused to stop. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS! They will take advantage of you. They need to be stopped and thrown into jail.

This happened to my mother who is 85 years old. We got all their software off to PC and had the credit card number changed and have disputed the charge with our credit card company. Next we are going to see who we can contact in Fla. to report them. Scam Scam

These guys are crooks. Stay away from them. They pretend to be Symantec Anti Virus reseller. They will install a rogue version of symantec on your computer.

My Grandma was taken advantage of these guys and charged her credit card. The malware is pretty strong but was able to delete with "malware bytes" and "Rkil" . Updated her Microsoft updates and ran a Windows defender scan. Everything running back to normal

Here is their website

They run this scam business out of a house in Florida. See website for their address
