Called me at work. When I answered the phone asked for my number, he had just called me. Wanted to know my name. Like I said he called and asked for me. Then wanted to know my social security number! I told him I would not give him any info. He called me should know my name, and my number. I could not believe he asked for my social security number. Just scammers!
Caller ID says "Unknown Caller." Have been calling our number for more than a year off and on, but leave no message. If answer, get message "sorry for the delay, a representative will be with you in a moment." If hang on line until a "representative" comes on line, it can be someone who speaks clear English or a Pakistani/Indian, male/female. Call at least two times a day, starting at 8:10 am, even Sat/Sun. Relative they're looking for hasn't been in our home for almost 2 decades! Today, I actually spoke with a rep, a Pakistani/Indian, and told him person wasn't at this number, and he politely said he'd delete number from calling list. (Yeah, right!) I engaged him to try to find out what his name was and the company name, which he readily gave up. I asked for HIS phone number, and he started to rattle off "800-265" then stopped and said "why should I give you my phone number! The audacity, after calling our number/knowing our number, but not wanting to reveal HIS! When I asked him his name/company name, he said "MCM/Mike Taylor, and that it was a collection agency. I asked him how old this "debt" was he was calling about, and he admitted it was a long time ago. When I said they were probably out of time in collecting this debt due to its age, not revealing that individual was a relative and hadn't been in our home for 18 years, and that they were breaking the law by suppressing their identity on caller ID so that we couldn't even block the number with our carrier, he got irritated, said "you don't have any right to talk to me that way," I got fired up! I told him this relative could be found by "Goggling" his name on the Internet, and told him what was available online, i.e., a Facebook page, current employer, address, phone number, etc., and this idiot asked me to give him the phone number! I told him to do his own work and look it up himself! Gawd, these people can drive a person to insanity!
called saying we need to pay credit card off today or tomorrow, they could arrange payments, yada yada yada. We have no outstanding credit card payments. This is a scam. Furthermore, BBB says that Midland Credit Management is no longer a business.
I got a call this morning from the number 800-265-8825 by a man named Tony Black. He had a heavy indian accent, so i was a bit skeptical about his last name. He said I owe a $22,000 debt on my Bank of America account, and that he was going to offer me a $13,000 settlement instead. I enclosed my Bank of America credit card two years ago, but he said it wasn't "officially" settled, so now I have to pay this debt. I'm utterly shocked and do not know what to do with this situation. Is this a scam? Should I call Bank of America myself or call Tony Black back?
calling family member every night asking for phone #
