Why You Should Watch Out for Government Scam Calls

Spam calls made by people who are trying to impersonate a legitimate government agency are commonly referred to as "government scams". These scammers make the calls to try to get private information from the people they are calling. The most common government agency scammers try to pose as is the IRS. They will call people and tell them they are wanted by the police for tax fraud or unpaid taxes. These calls can be very convincing, as they will tell you your full legal name as well as your address or social security number. However, they are scam calls are should not be trusted. Other agencies these robocalls pose as are the Social Security Administration, Medicare, the FBI, or police departments. All of these calls are spam calls and the callers are committing a crime, so you should not wire money to them or confirm your bank account information. The best thing to do when you believe you are unsure if you are having a conversation with a scammer is to hang up and call the real agency. True government agencies can be trusted and they will confirm whether or not you are wanted for a crime or have not paid your taxes.

The number itself IS Comcast but whether it's spoofed is another story. Comcast calls to confirm appointments etc.

two unsolicited calls from this number. lady said she was with Comcast. so maybe someone was spoofing their number. I don't know. I don't have comcast nor do I want them. Im on the do not call list.

Just got music. Got 3 or 4 calls on the home phone and 3 on my cell number in about a 10 minute period. It was driving us bonkers wondering why the same # calling to both our numbers and at 10:30 PM

They called asking for personal information about our company.. Claiming he worked for Comcast. Number is 800-266-2278. caller id said COMCAST.

calls from 800-266-2278 at least once a day always in my messages but they never say anything and the number does not show up on my id for incoming or missed calls - how can they get away with this so annoying!
